Composting as Somatic Practice: A Quiet Space for Artists, Feelers & Anyone Carrying the Weight of the World

Composting as Somatic Practice: A Quiet Space for Artists, Feelers & Anyone Carrying the Weight of the World
Part of The Velveteen Bean’s Soil Magic Series

Description:
This is not a traditional workshop—it’s a completely silent, somatic experience rooted in the raw truth of compost. Together, we move through a series of tactile stations, seeing/feeling/smelling/being with the phases of decomposition. *Multiple dates available, pending interest - get in touch

There will be a personal guide to follow, but no instructions, no pressure to learn or perform. You’ll sit with real materials. You’ll witness rot. You’ll notice what surfaces in you; emotion, memory, stillness, maybe nothing at all.

Each layer of compost becomes a metaphor for transformation. This practice invites you to slow down and feel what you feel, free from the constraints of language or expectation. There is no right way to show up; just be present.

Perfect for creatives, sensitives, and anyone needing space to process the intensity of “these times”

What to expect:

  • A wordless sequence of sensory prompts

  • Physical interaction with compost materials (yes, it’s smelly and messy)

  • A quiet, reflective space to experience breakdown as part of renewal

  • Optional journaling with prompts after the session, and/or prompts to take home.
